Our Bodies Are a Work Of Art

Our bodies are a work of art

through all the moments of our life.

It’s curves, folds, and imperfections

are authentic to us.

The way it looks is only temporary

because we are just that.

Our bodies tell a story, and they tell us our truth.

So let’s start to listen

and begin to notice the thoughts,

allowing ourselves the space

to shatter societal beauty standards

and let go of the how we think we should look.

Our bodies are a work of art

and we can begin anytime to recognize

the beautiful masterpieces that they truly are.

Hello beautiful masterpieces,

I hope you enjoyed this short poem that came to me in the parking lot of my kids school before parent teacher conference.  There are always little surprises that come our way, and this was one of mine.  Instead of diving on social media when I have a spare minute (so hard!!!!), I let it flow.  Practicing presence has not only allowed some magical thoughts to come in, but has also been a huge part of my own personal empowerment.

Personal empowerment means that we have to remind ourselves to pour the love back into us. We can start by finding small ways to pause and actively practice presence. Here are small ways we can do this during the day:

-Breathing exercise/meditate for 2 minutes

-Give yourself one compliment out loud in front of a mirror

-Rub your hands all over your own bod and say, ”thank you for carrying me on this earth”

-Think of three things you are grateful for

-Close your eyes and notice the texture and goodness of your first few bites of food

-Stretch, move your body (shake a little, dance a little)

Notice your energy shifting when you actively do the little things just for you.  You can begin any time by setting aside even the smallest feel-good moments just for you while remembering:

YOU ARE A MASTERPIECE!
